Hilal Sezgin

Hilal Sezgin
b. 1970, is a Turkish–German author. She contributes to various media, including the Frankfurter Rundschau and Die Zeit. Hilal Sezgin has won numerous awards such as the “top animal-lover shepherdess” from PETA and the award from the Edition F “25 Women who make our world better”. Since 2020 she has been the “Gorilla Ambassador” of the Great Ape Project. Recently published: Vom fordernden und beglückenden Leben mit Tieren, 2023

The impressive thing about Sezgin’s book is the author’s attitude. Her theoretical reflections are repeatedly interspersed with amusing scenes from daily life at her animal sanctury. Sezgin is no sentimental animal lover, but a pragmatic, empathetic and precise observer of her sheep, hens and pigs.
